Scope of Work: 

The GIS Technician at KIRA Training Services is responsible for leveraging expertise in GeoBase Architecture and adhering to standards such as SDSFIE, Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC), Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM), and Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Standards.


  • Utilize GeoBase Architecture and adhere to established standards (SDSFIE, FGDC, CSDGM, OGC) for GIS operations.
  • Ensure compliance with geospatial data standards and protocols in data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Maintain and manage geospatial databases, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards.
  • Generate and update geospatial maps, datasets, and related products in alignment with established standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS data with other systems and applications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on GIS standards and protocols.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in GeoBase Architecture and familiarity with SDSFIE, FGDC, CSDGM, and OGC Standards.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.  
  • Must have and maintain a valid CO state driver’s license.   
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check.  
  • Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.   
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.   
  • Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing.  
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
